Lovely shot! Never seen one here although there are some in the area...so it's nice to see what one looks like! Smile

Very interesting duck capture. Seems this variety has a fairly long bill. The mallard which is the predominant variety here seems to have a much shorter bill compared to the head than this variety. Is this the more predominant in your region?

My experience with ducks in my area is very limited as they only migrate through with few remaining for the season in the area. Probably ripper could best speak for ducks in our region.

Hi Bob, not one i've seen before, they have a big bill, if you look closely you may see a line of very fine filters between its bill, this is how it feeds. The male is a totally different colour (as mallards)
