This is stunning! I don't know how you achieved the effect you did, but it's fabulous. Great detail in those trees and great light on the (?)chateau/monastery/whatever. Absolutely love it.http://janpudney.net/ http://jaypea.redbubble.com/
Thanks so much Jan, don't see either of us around here much these days. The effect is achieved by being in a beautiful place and getting up early! Seriously, a lot of post processing on an already acceptable image. Cheers, Mal
Thank you Cees, very kind.malsmith.com
To me, and apparently only to me the capture looks a bit over balanced. This probably is due to the sensor metering on the very bright bluff and castle. To compensate the foreground is over darkened with very dark areas and poor contrasting. The striking thing about the foreground is the redish colored bridge against the greens, and of course the reflective capture of the white cloud in the water's surface. These qualities of the foreground cover its shortcomings at first glance. But, when carefully studied the foreground's shortcomings become apparent. From viewing your heavily computerized posts of the past I have noted as I did on your July 13th post that you seem to do an incomplete job. Maybe you over tire yourself or get so deeply into one aspect that you don't see the whole for its parts. I am not sure. It seems to me, that the reliance on over computerization admits to making poor original captures. But, I've looked carefully at your other work and this does not seem evident. So, I can only conclude that in some cases you over stretch or reach. That seems more the case in some posts.
Normally, I would not subject a post to this sort of scrutiny. However, by your comments on others' posts yesterday you set yourself up to be a master photographer as opposed to others who seem to claim no such greatness. And, as a failed novice who looks to master photographers as yourself who set the bar very high I expect to see that bar set to the same height in your work that you post.
Alas, you are the artist. And, I but a failed novice. So, whom am I to question?
She sits like a crown in a green mountain of forrest nymphs........cross the bridge to the lady who waits for you in the furthest tower. Upon the dawn she will grant one wish to he that is worthy. If you are found not worthy tho, lo you are bound to the forrest as another tree rising. God Speed

This absolutely rocks. Glorious lighting. Whatever post processing is done here, it is applied expertly. Superb work.CatIt's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see ~ Henry David Thoreau
Thank you so much Jenny, I'm so pleased the image engaged you. Cat! welcome back and thank you for your kind words and enlightened comment. ;0)malsmith.com
