Congratulations, beautiful shot
~In His Love~ Maggi D For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16
Neil, this is a fantastic shot. I love the drama of it all. The fiery sky is awesome. You deserved to win with this.
Are you ready for a few nit picks? - and they are just that - nit picks. Nothing too serious and just my opinion... For me the slight discoloration of the water coming over the falls distracts from the overall pic. The brown tones that appear in some of the shot could have been neutralized. Also where the horizon meets the sky in a couple of patches it looks like the dodge/burn or image combining has introduced a couple of anomalies. Apart from that. Top draw stuff! Well done

It's a great picture as long as it is not a combination of a foreground and a different sky from elsewhere - please tell us. For me the sky just does not match the landscape.
Thanks to Mark, the judges, and everyone who has commented here. In answer to some questions:
danmdan: this is the original sky of the photograph. A storm approached.
anthonyturnham: Thanks, I agree especially about the water discoloration. I'll look at the horizon details before making any large prints...something I need to do soon anyway.
hobson: I did shoot bracketed (I usually do), and I do have a version of this that's HDR to bring out some of the darker areas on the other side of the river, but this is not an HDR version, though it may be tonemapped within PS to bring out the water details.
