You've got her eye. Well seen.

The high ISO has produced a lot of noise and loss of detail. Most cameras (except for the high-end DSLR's) don't cope well with anything higher than 800 after which the noise levels are unacceptable - and with some cameras even 800 is too high. You've obviously tried to deal with poor lighting (wide aperture and high ISO), but you'll be happier with the result if you try again in better natural light. As she's looking at you directly, the on-camera flash wouldn't work here, either, because you'd end up with the feline equivalent of red eye. She's a pretty, cute kitten.

Thanks for your critique - all so true and well- elucidated. My problem is...the kitten is 800 miles away at my daughter's home, and by the time I see her to get another shot, she will be "all grown up" (and maybe not so cute). I had to grab it while the grabbin' was good. But, some consolation for me --- at least her "cuteness" shines through that evil noise and horrid loss of detail.

Bobwed, thanks. She is adorable, now that the fleas are gone.

with all that noise and loss of detail, to me it looks like like a painting... like brush strokes.
very well taken.
