Jewels in the Crowd

Seemly obliviousness of the crowd, that swirls about them. Two Girl's chat between themselves, as they enjoy the Diwali celebrations.

Beautiful capture..n its a Bharathanatyam Dance costume.
Bharata Natyam is one of the oldest dance forms of India. It was nurtured in the temples and courts of southern India since ancient times.Today Bharata Natyam is one of the most popular and widely performed dance styles and is practiced by male and female dancers all over India. Due to its wide range of movements and postures and the balanced melange of the rhythmic and mimetic aspects lends itself well to experimental and fusion choreography.
There are two commonly used styles in Bharatanatyam Costumes for women: the Skirt (Saree) Style or the Pyjama Style. Dancers wear costumes made of silk sarees with gold zari embroidery designs. The pleats in these costumes opens beautifully when the dancer forms a particular posture especially arai mandi (half sitting) and muzhu mandi (full sitting).

Hi, Usha Scorpio

I happy to learn you like this image.
Thank you so much for that wonderful and insightful knowledge. Over the two day Celebration weekend ( public celebration) was a full two days, of dance competitions. This style of dress was wonderful, on both the boys and girls. I'm already looking forward to this coming years celebrations. Again thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, and providing some background information to this image and the style of dress the girls are wearing. I really appreciate the time you have taken to share this with all

A very well composed photograph. Excellent placement of the subject at the center. The girl in blue facing the camera catches the attention while the girl with her back turned to the camera offers a unique rear view of the costuming. Seems to me they compliment one another in displaying both sides of the dress. Very much like the DOF (depth of field) with the background slightly blurred. This emphasizes the subject figures and supports the attention given them by the viewer. The slight blur (Bokeh) is just enough to set the context within which the subjects are displayed in the photograph. Excellent photographic technique. Welcome to the Blog.

Hi Bobwed, thanks for your warm welcome and for taking time to write your thoughts, glad to learn you like the technical aspects of this Image.
Generally I never quite know, what I have captured ( know how good the image is going to turn out) in this sort of circumstance. So its always a joy to find among the captured moments ones like this that just seem to stand out and shine.
I personally prefer natural / unplanned shots like this. Where your lucky when you can capture a split second in time, which is to me a moment of unplanned magic. Moments after this the girls altered position in their conversation so the whole composition altered. So I feel really lucky when capturing a magic moment like this when I am able to.

HI Viv
thanks for taking time to give me some feed back. I would have asked but I respect "girl talk "
This is a personal favorite of mine, as many images tell a story of a subject or a person, where this is a story unto and within itself Smile
