Seems an imposing figure in this perspective. Notice the long windows, right. Is this the chapel or great hall? I am not familiar with castles. I only know them from movies. No moat or walls seems strange. The rear seems a bit vulnerable. With the banner flying does that mean it is still held by the noble family? Lots of questions, I know.
I don't make a claim to be an authority on castles Bob, we have so many in County Durham & Northumberland, which is my area, it's mind boggling. The pic is of one side of the castle, the front, which does have a moat & the rear which stands at the top of very steep land are better defended. Additions to all castles were made by each generation & were based on the political situation of the time, for example war or peace. Oh, It's the Northumbrian flag.
