There has been rather a lot of put-down type remarks against overweight people in pictures on the Blog lately. In the end, it's one of the prejudices that's still socially acceptable after all this time, and gets a lot of play in the name of 'humor'. Notice how many fat guys are bumbling sidekicks or villains in movies & TV? I don't know the man in this picture, but fluffy is right, he could have significant challenges. I work with a lot of people with developmental disabilities, and this person's general affect reminds me of some of these people.
Bob is also right, it's a good street portrait, and it really does take courage to take pictures of strangers. I can only rarely do it.
Eh, sorry if the above sounds judgemental at all. It's 4 in the morning, I haven't slept all night, and I have to go talk to the nursing staff about re-writes to the policy manual at 9. My defenses are down and all the philisophical bilge comes rolling out.
This man was really drunk at 10 am. That is why I said liquid breakfast lunch and dinner. No put down was meant at all. He may well have many challenges in his life. Liquid lunch here refers to drinking instead of eating when one should actually have food.
