This is Central Arcade in Newcastle upon Tyne. Built in 1906, one of the few buildings which has retained it's beautiful ceramic tile work & lights. The lights of course are now electric instead of gas but the atmosphere remains. Built in an era when style & longevity of build was important unlike many of the monstrosities we see today. A handful of shops selling quality goods occupy the arcade & add to it's elegance.
Excellent interior capture. You've managed the lighting superbly. Love that glassed dome and arcade above. Nice touch with the criss-cross filter affect. Was that by a filter on the lens or added in processing? When doing film with my slr you could only get it with a filter. Long time ago. Love the interior scene with the seated musician. In the 'States they are generally prohibited in enclosed malls, but in street malls they are previlant. They add to the enjoyment and atmosphere, I think. Nice candid of the people present, too. Thanks for the view of your customs and for the narration, too. I am surprised that that fine glass dome survived the Blitz. Thank you.
Thank you Angela. It was a very cold day & the city was remarkably quiet, not many folk around, strangely enough I've never seen the arcade busy.

Thank you for the comments Bob. To answer your questions: The star filter is one of many effects built into the FZ62's 'Retouch' facility & the intensity of the effect is user variable, no filter required. The musician does require a buskers licence, he was playing a set of Northumbrian pipes, similar to Scottish bag pipes but the 'bellows' are inflated by arm movement rather than with a mouthpiece, his playing was superb! Whilst the city was bombed during WWII it didn't suffer the intensity that the Southern towns & cities underwent. Newcastle has some wonderful Georgian, Edwardian & Victorian architecture in amongst the chrome, stainless steel, plastic & glass buildings of today.
