Off to new pastures?

I am sorry to say that after many years on this site i feel I have to look for new pastures. Sadly the site seems more concerned with equipment than with photography. I may be back, but I am looking for a site more concerned with the images. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You do a lot of great images that nobody can't appreciate because of the taste and the other ways of sight. Don't be bored or give up because of them. You have a great creatibvity that nothing can stop it. Keep up your great work, yoour creativity and your spirit without thinking anythoing, they'll miss your image one day.

A great image is more than just a wind, we can see it, we can feel it, we get the spirit and we never ever can capture it again, only one moment in time. Nobody realize that.

This site is a place for share and sometimes somebody keep your image freely for their purpose, hope the image can touch their heart and soul and you'll thank for that.

Keep on having great shot, great experiment and great journey. Good luck my friend.

Not sure that I would agree with your conclusion that equipment is important to this site like no other. I have never used an interchangeable lens camera nor a high end editor. But, I've been here steadily for nearly 4 years. Many have seemed annoyed at the quality of my photos, but the only one I have to please is Mark Goldstein since it is his Blog. He has never admonished me for the equipment I use. Probably because his reviews have greatly influenced my choice of cameras. As well as on PhotographyBlog I am on many other sites with the same sort of photos I post here; and with similar problems with other photographers. But, it is them; not me who have the problem. Here are a few others I am a memeber of: DP Review, Photo.Net, FotoCommunity, PictureSocial, Flickr, TalkPhotography, etc. Just one thing. If you are looking for recognition in any of these you will find it no different than on PhotographyBlog. The more you participate the more recognition you will get. Just by posting your photos - no matter how good they are (there are always better) won't get you many looks. You have to join up and participate. Because other photographers will appreciate you if they understand you. For example, most of my friends know I am partially sighted. So, what I do is the best I can do.

By the way - this is a very good photo. Maybe we can lunch here someday. Until then, best of luck and good shooting.

Thanks for your comments Angela, usntm1ret, aperdan and Bobwed. I have been a regular on this site for ten years and seen many people come and go. But I do think that the site is moving more to an equipment-based site. The photo gallery has become more and more like an add-on. In the early days there used to be gallery pictures on the home page. They were then relegated to the gallery page and now there are no featured photographs at all. The monthly and weekly competitions have gone completely without so much as an announcement. Just suddenly stopped. I have participated on other sites over the years but hadn't found one that really suited me. I like the competition element, not because I want to win or think I should but it is a way of giving one an idea of how ones pictures are really viewed. The folk on this site often comment but are very polite and one doesn't really get a view of how one's pictures are viewed. I have tried Photo.Net, but it seems centred on America and the UK is a very poor relation. I have had a week or so on ephotozine and have been pleased with the current set up. I have been lurking on there for a few years but I do feel that the site is more interested in photography and images than just the equipment. Consequently I have signed up to ephotozine so will try that out for a few months. My images are here: http://www.ephotozine.com/user/kurtskeels-7745 . Good luck to you all. I will return from time to time to check out your images which I enjoy very much. I like your quirky people pictures Bobwed and If I ever get to Los Angeles I will let you know. If you are in Bournemouth, UK look me up! I also like Angela's wildlife shots very much so I am sure to peruse the galleries from time to time.
