I'd given up on growing Acidanthera bulbs, as they refused to flower for me. Then they did it when I wasn't looking.
It was a relief from the red-and-green that's everywhere at Christmas!
Yes, the purple makes me think of brush-strokes. My camera got the colours accurately, but the photo on the bulb packet didn't (as usual!). The centres looked black in that. The flowers are just as elegant though.
