So he uses a flip out screen to compose his shots,but you shoot blind.but you both shoot from the hip,a fantastic stret portrait shot. Angela

Yes, Amanda. The hip shot is the preferred technique of most street and candid shooters because people are captured being themselves when using it. Shooting from the face, as is usually done, will alert people they are being photographed. So, hip shooting keeps everyone calm and happy. There are all sorts of variations of this technique, and which ever one you chose to try takes lots and lots of work to prefect. It really amounts to getting used to it and getting a comfortable feel for it. It feels so awkward at first. Your dedication will be sorely tested because you are going to fail over and over again while you are learning this technigue of shooting. Good luck.
