Northern Flicker

Northern Flicker

This bird is in the woodpecker family but you won't find him hammering away at trees. He prefers to raid ant hills which is what he was doing in my backyard. He's got great markings and when in flight you can see a beautiful yellow flash of color under the wings and tail. I couldn't believe my luck when I spotted him.
