Lake Vyrnwy is man-made, which was completed in 1888 to supply the people of Liverpool with water (which it still does today). The village of Llanwddyn was submerged by the lake. In dry summers, if the water level drops far enough, the ruins of the old village reappear.

The contrast of the grey overcast sky and the greens is eye catching.
