Another example of all that is wrong with the POTW format. Nice pict but it made it with a single comment that was itself posted a week before the competition date.

I would make that 6 votes. If half a dozen people can't even bother to vote for a pict then it's not worth postinjg to your front page. It would also limit the effects of voting shenannigans although it hasn't been that bad this week.
I agree actually, I intended this picture to go into the following POTW, thinking that the last one had finished, so I think that gav_davies butterfly picture should be this week's picture of the week. Perhaps another alternative would be to zero any ratings if a picture is moved into the POTW category, so that only subsequent ratings are taken into account. Apologies for any problems inadvertently caused, I agree it appears unfair.
This is a nice macro, but I'm surprised it won. And on one vote? Maybe the rules should be reexamined. But then again, is that the only reason any of us post our pictures here?

OK, as Jools has kindly said that gav_davies should be POTW, I will change the winner today.
I will also be amending the POTW rules so that:
1. Only entries with 3 or more votes are eligible to win.
2. A vote only counts if it is made during the duration of the contest.
