Absolutely love this.A photo should say something and this does.You should visit the west coast of Africa and go through the slave holdings there with your camera.
I know the west coast of Africa to the extent that my mother comes from Burkina Faso. Furthermore this picture has been made in Burkina in november 2004.
This modified version is a real winner for me, even if it makes the subject a little too close for comfort. great image and very clear. Just shows how a good composition (or crop edit) can improve a photo.
