thank you so much. i wanted to create a self portrait in a not so usual way. i placed the camera on a tripod and myself in front of one of my white walls. then i turned away and did some shots. the problem i had is, that i couldnt control if i was completely within the frame (if anybody has an idea how to do that with the eos 10d i would be happy for instructions). most of them turned out quite ugly, but this one was then one i liked. the head was cut off because of the above problem. the washed out effect was not what i intended to do, but it was a long exposure without flash in a not very well lit room. but since i am dead pale and so is the wall it worked out okay. thank you again for the nice feedback!!

What I would suggest is get a cheap webcam and mount it on the flash hotshoe (USD50?). Feed the output from the webcam into a laptop or desktop PC. Even if the field of view is different from the camera you can frame the screen of the laptop with tape to get an approximation of what is or isn't in view.
Ohh, I'm supposed to be critiquing pictures...nice pic, nicely blown out the whites whilst retaining tone in the skin.
