To take an opposing view, keeping mum in makes it a story about a tired adult struggling to keep up with an active child. They've clearly been on the go all day, but she's about done in and he's still full of beans - I can sympathise (and mine isn't even walking yet)! Perhaps a bit more blur on mum in the background would have separated the subject planes better.
He is adorable! I too can sympathize - I have two little spidermen of my own (although on any given day it can be batman, superman, the Hulk, you name it . . ) I really like the entire composition.
