would benefit from cropping out distractions such as dark post (?) right front and the area left front which is sharp while the rest is blurred. Also in my opinion, the picture looks a bit strange with only the pheasant in focus looks a bit like its been cut out of a magazine and stuck on the image! the area which one would assume is below its feet is not in focus, which gives it an appearance of floating.
If you have used blur, it may be worth trying again but graduating the blur from front to back in horizontal bands so that the progression and blurring looks more natural. However, having said all that, the composition is not strong and there are 'no feet' on the bird, which spoils the overall impression.
Another shot I wish I could get close enough to take, but is easy to criticise sitting warm at home! Please dont think I'm being picky, I would do the same with my own shots, and do, which is the only way you improve and learn! I take hundreds I would never post, so dont give up!
