as this was an isolated bud, it might have been helpful to use higher f stop which would have given more depth of field, at 1/1250, you still had loads of scope for decreasing shutter speed with handheld, and it would have increased in-focus area on the stem. also cropping closer to the flower to show detail and texture of but would create more interest if you can do this with any editing software package you have.
I have just looked up your cameras spec, you have a super macro of 0-10cm focal range, try getting in really close, even if you have to pick a flower and take it indoors, put it in a glass on a table and prop yourself up on elbows or table top tripod, and really have a close up look at some of the textures nature produces! remember DOF is much shallower this way but its really fun to experiment!
