I was witness to this strange if not scary event yesterday,the cattle seemed to single out this poor lamb and chase it around the field trying to trample it and prevented its mother from getting close,Iam pleased to report that this only lasted for about 10 mins and the lamb appeared unhurt but it was quite frightening,could anyone tell me if this is natural behaviour
how terrifying, the heiffers look young, and perhaps the lamb got separated and they decided to have some fun, dont think it was malicious in the way we perceive it, cattle often crowd round my horse when trying to travers a field full of them, or often run after us along the line of a fence if a bridleway runs parallel, terrifying the horse. I think they are just mischievous and will chase anything which does not look threatening - perhaps they have never mixed with sheep before and see them as easy game! the lamb had a lucky escape though!

If not, shame on you.!I am a closet veggie, I only eat meat because someone else did the dirty, when I raised chickens and sheep and goats to eat, they died of old age or I sold them to someone not as sentimental, the only chicken I killed was an accident - I ran it over reversing out of my drive, it was only half dead and I had to get oout the car and neck it. only I think as I had never done that before, I could have got prosecuted for causing unnecessary suffering as its neck got longer and longer but it didnt die... I still have nightmares! !!!!!!!!!!!
haha, reminds me of the Heiniken adverts, where the' that makes a refreshing change' adverts had a giant hedgehog trampling a car and a squadron of ducks shooting and wildfowlers!
If I see a chicken that big, I'll make sure I have an equally large umbrella handy, I know what a horse can do........
on the other hand, if you see someone walking around with a 12" polo neck you may start to wonder if you know their identity.......
