Thanks everyone! don't let the chain worry you its not attached to snuggles just to the plug in the sink! we found this baby red squirrel a few years ago in our garden after a stormy night, he was very weak and small (he is sitting where the soap goes on the bathroom sink) His mum wasn't around so we looked after him, gave him peanut butter at first then moved him on to solids. (under the advise of the squirrel rescuse people) He was released back into the wild after 3 months - after putting on enough weight to survive. He was timid as we didn't want him to get too used to humans.
Rachel, I was given one to look after by RSPCA,thye did not have time to look after it and could not get it to feed. I took hold of it and it was feeding from me in minutes so I got to take him home. just a week or so old, fed from syringe on puppy milk, then liquidised hazlenuts and milk. mine used to chase my dogs round the settee and sit on the curtain rail, and sleep in the inside pocket of my jacket. was a male. used to get very jealous if my partner and I sat too close and would sit on my shoulder and chipper angrily! fantasti creatures.
Rachel, this was about 20 years ago, they are all grays near me now, to my horror, I will try to find an old pic to scan. He actually had the run of the house and escaped one day when someone called in to look for me, without realising. He was spotted once, but I suspect he would not survive, I was going to realease him on a suitable site, there would be nothing for him to store to eat for the winter in my farming type area, so I suspect after all that it did not have a happy ending, but you never know.
