lovely comp, suspect the boats were really this blue, but not sure it sits so well against the sepia and bright as this either, I think this would probably be ok all colour or all sepia as it is a strong comp in its own right, or as suggested, a slightly less harsh blue
I'm not sure. At the end of the day, it's your photo, so as long as you're happy with it....
I usually just play around in Photoshop, trying all sorts of different techniques until I find a result that pleases me, (or until I give up!) so that would be my recommendation to you too!

Lovely shot and a good choice for selective colour..
I think I would actually try darkening as well as the desaturation, just play around maybe till it is a little more subdued, but it is a personal preference what we all think is ideal so really what you like is the main thing.
