This is a male. You can tell by the red spot on the back of the head. The reason you can't see his beak is because he's holding about 20 inch worms in it.
No, tjr, it's not your eyes. The shot is somewhat fuzzy, I tried to sharpen it up. I didn't think to use the backlight or a flash since I was chasing this little speed demon around the tree. The truth is after looking at my other 40 blurred photos of him this one looked like a prize winner. LOL. Thanks for looking and rating. Thank you, Steve and thanks noamr. I appreciate you all taking the time to comment. Amanda p.s. you think it's easy sitting in a tree with worms and who knows what else just to take a picture of a bird?My Gallery
Its hard enough to actually get a shot of one of these things,,,getting it in focus is even harder!,,you've done well,,I like it!...Ken
If I see something I "SHOOT!"
Thanks, Ken. It is hard to get a shot since he just visits my apple tree for a few minutes a day and then leaves with his cache. I will keep trying to improve though. Thank you for the generous rating, it is very much appreciated. AmandaMy Gallery
