Amanda, I love the expression on this guy (or girl, I guess). I'm curious about what the lighting situation was. The face is well lit, but I can't see anything behind. I guess it could be sky back there, huh?--Chris
Yes, that's sky, she is about 125 feet high. It started out sunny with blue skies, but by the time she came back to the nest it was beginning to look like rain. I must have shot 200 pics to end up with this one. I plan to try again tomorrow, hope the weather cooperates. Thanks for noticing and commenting. Osprey photography is very hard work. I've never tried this type of photography... I imagine it takes loads of patience... look at the size of these wings! good on you Amanda"The poetry of photography will always be more important than the mechanics of the camera..." - J-H. Lartigue
Thank you all for the nice comments. Oly_M, the wingspan is from 5 to 6 feet across. This bird is getting used to seeing me every day now, she leaves the nest, circles around me overhead then goes back to her nest. (Maybe she thinks I'm a big snack, lol). Steve, the lens is going back. AmandaMy Gallery
oh my gosh ! I think I remember now someone telling me about this bird.. I didn't make the connection until now. LOL on the big snack.. I think I would feel a little scared.. even wearing a ball cap would make me feel safer .. p.s. Amanda, I saw that a lot of the digital slr's have gone on sale (especially this point in the summer).. if I can help keep an eye on any brand or model ... let me know.. I would be so excited for you to get one. TC!"The poetry of photography will always be more important than the mechanics of the camera..." - J-H. Lartigue
