Thanks, Chris. I'll go ahead and ruin the mystery: It's a color image, converted to grey scale, with the original color image layered on top but with the opacity turned way down. Using the original color image to tone the black-and-white version gave better results than a "standard" sepia-toning. --Brian
Chris, I'm not at all surprised that you've used the technique before. You get terrific tones and contrasts in your B&Ws. I'm just glad it's isn't obvious from looking at the photo.
