The color was probably accurate, rather than dull. Canon sensors are famous for producing dead on realistic color rendition, which to the descerning photographer comes out looking a bit bland. The average consumer yearns for ultra-saturated, popping color (like you made this), which is what Nikon sensors are typically designed to produce.--Chris
When I go out taking pictures with my friends(most of them Nikon users), we took the same shot using the same settings but the Nikons turn out to be more saturated and vibrant and they suggested that I increase the saturation, but I'm not sure whether I've overdone it.
