The exif data says it ought to be pin sharp with great Dof so this must be deliberate.
Leaving aside the grain- there is a lot of unused space in the image and this would be much better as a portrait rather than landscape in my opinion. john We're off to see the Lizard~~the wonderful (sic) Lizard of Oz~~
Sadly this image wasn't really pin sharp as it's a self portrait and I had nothing to focus on that I could move out of shot within 8 seconds. This was the garden of a house I almost killed off during a very hot summer last year, so I wanted to capture myself in it.. hence the space. I try not to use too much photoshop, but grain seemed like the only way to detract from the slight blur. I do like blur, but I was after something a bit more nostalgic.
Thanks for the critical comments. It's useful for me as I tend only to hear things like 'yes, that's lovely' or 'nice shot'. This gallery seems to have far more talented photographers who know what they're talking about
Laura there is a free photoshop tutorial on making photos look old I downloaded a week back. It might be what you are looking for in this shot. I have not checked to see if it is still up but you can pick up the link to the site from the "LINKS" page of my website. john We're off to see the Lizard~~the wonderful (sic) Lizard of Oz~~
