An older woman smiles and waves the flag during the Veteransday parade. This embodies, imho, the smile of happiness and being content with the moment. The thumb up only enhances this feeling and idea in my opnion

That is right. The soft and tender expression of the older lady with the grim faces of the copper(s) even things out quite nicely. Balance.....but I guess that is something Mr. B. is incapable off
