During colonial times the British found out that one of Myanmar’s natives, Salone , were used to satisfy with their lots and had no inordinate selfishness. The British came to know to calculate out the value of precious pearls, edible bird-nests and ambergris etc. that were searched at the risk of life and collected by the Salone. British were eager to obtain these valuable things without making a proper bargain with them.
In order to make the Salone to get into a protracted war of intoxicated drugs, the British, with their intense greed, allowed to open the opium-compartments around there. At the beginning, opium was distributed at no cost to the Salone natives by the British showing reason to long submersion in water. Then, the opium made the Salone became a medium to exchange with precious things owned by the Salone. The protraction in addiction of opium to be named as a nationality of opium-eaters for generations. Reputation of the Salone’s moral simplicity was destroyed by the British using the opium as their breaking device. Thus, drug-addicted Salone were ostracized. They searched money at the risk of life for want of opium. Theywasted all their money just for opium. Their affairs relating to economic, social and educational developments reached down to the zero level. The brits also pushed the people of the golden triangle to raise poppy so they could sell the opium to china too. Noone in Myanmar produced opium before. On top of it after the US droped the national chinese under chiang kai check those chinese pushed into northern Myanmar and also raised poppys / opium/ heroin to finace their war against the chinese communists. So all this problems with the narcotics was actually created by the brits and the US and NOT by Myanmars.
