Technically not a garden bird, but the back deck of my ship, where I found this little fella, is sort of my garden. Anyway all the birds in my garden are camera shy, or possibly just not stupid enough to come anywhere near my son the devil child.
Great shot, i have your sons twin brother at my house! lol. Maggi

Great shot. I've never seen one of these little chaps sitting still. They're always darting about over head and it nice to see one close up!Richard Crowe Visit My Website
You just might have a winner here. It's by far the best bird shot in more ways than one. Like rjvc, I've never seen one like this so close up before. Well done. My Gallery
Amazing, I agree with Richard. The welcome swallows over here are like perpetual motion machines. Super shot. john We're off to see the Lizard~~the wonderful (sic) Lizard of Oz~~
Thanks to all. I crawled down the back deck on my stomach to get this, much to the amusement of my shipmates, who already knew this chap was too exhausted to get away anyway. I got so close to him that I could not focus. The swallows also had to run the gauntlet of hungry egrets who found them easy pickings. I have a grizzly sequence which I will post later.
