This is my first DSLR, so I'm still learning the ropes....so any advice as to how to improve my shots is greatly appreciated.
Should I have composed the shot to include the whole subject? Would I get less detail doing it that way

Hi
I'm using the Tamron 90mm Di macro lens, I've only recently purchased it so I'm not really sure how to get the most out of the lens. I never thought of using the flash in bright sunshine, but I'll give it a go.

Many Thanks

Lovely shot Donna.........I would think you are too close to the subject to use onboard flash, you are almost sure to cast a shadow from the lens, anyway on board flash would produce a flat image

You are doing just fine Donna!....macro is a matter of trial and error!....more error than trial to begin with but you have got off to a great start!....just keep at it.............with the Tamron 90mm and 10million pixels you will soon be astounding us with the quality of your shots!,,,,,,Oh and welcome to the Mad house!...lol...............Ken

Hi
Thanks for all your comments.....I would never normally dream of entering any contests, all I do is drool over everyones gorgeous shots!
I hate to think that people would think I'm showing off, I'm too self critical to do that, but I'm so pleased with this little furry chap!

Great shot . I wish there was a bit more depth of field so his back wing was in focus ie higher fstop number but lookward to seeing some more.
The front leaf is a little distracting but you have great focus on the eye - the critical element.

Trial and error covers macro shots completely, especially if you're shooting a moving subject. Agree that the butterfly is superb...trial and error part comes in when you have to wait for him to get in a different spot on that flower! Nice shot.
