it was pretty cold, and it looks as if the dark horse wasn't going to get any hay until the others were done. the one looking at camera didn't seem to like me either.

I like it. I think it would have been cool if there was nothing in the background, those shrubs in a line back there. You weren't able to get detail from the lone horse?

there is a limitation to the dynamic range (of the 300D) possible between white snow and a coal black horse. I used greyscale channels to convert image to b&w, stuggling to retain detail in the snow (and keep it white, rather than grey). I shot the picture in RAW and I have just bought the DRI Plugin from Fred Miranda (http://www.fredmiranda.com/shopping/DRI) so i'll see what is possible. I could crop the image, but at the time wanted to show the interaction of the horses. I have some isolated shots of the black horse - but he really was just black against white show - so the DRI is too great to get either right imho. any tips?
