Many thanks Jimmy, glad you like this shot. This is the first time I have been to this site despite it only being a 20 minute drive from where I live.

Nice shot Nige.... love the architecture and stonework! Interesting to us down here, (your country has so much history to it), why wasn't it completed? (or has it just gone to ruin over the years?). Great image ........ Alan
Thanks Alan, the Abbey was built around 1170. The Abbey was destroyed by King Henry VIII during the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 1500's.

Thanks Nige.... interesting to know! Old King Henry VIII was a real mad man eh? destroying beautiful Abbeys like that and chopping off his wife's head etc!!!
One of my favourite books was "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett, its a real good read and set in the 1100's, a story about building a Cathedral and all that it endured during those times. Worth a read if you can get hold of a copy (would make a great movie actually!). Cheers Nige...... Alan
Thanks Daenna, appreciate you looking and commenting. The weathers very on and off here at the moment
