Nice shot, but backend is more in focus than the front. Depending on depth of field of course you get about one third in front and two thirds behind the actual point of focus, so I would say you locked onto the wing area rather than the head or neck.

Like this because of the detail in the left wing (have been that way inclined for years ...), which may have been your intention?

I was trying to get the patterns on the wings, using the light and shadows that mix with the line. The blur and sharp parts make you look and looking is what i wanted people to do.

It works how i intended but i except your critism and now know what kind of photo's your looking for.

Just thought i'd try something from the norm.

Thanks for all your comments

Deep- You'll get that a lot here. [Somebody won't like the focus, somebody else will think you should have chosen a different insect that day, I think there's even someone with an aversion to blue.] No matter: you're here to share, not to get ordained as a camera scientist. Hey, it's a nice shot. Keep posting.

Welcome to The Blog.

Yakographer
Good point: who are you to judge?

Go ahead, give it up! Like it, hate it? You can say so.
The winner goes to semi-finals because of Mark (Goldstein) (it's his site) and then the rest of us vote (usually on Mondays or Tuesdays -- watch the Photo Blog home page to see when Photo of the Week (POTW) is over for the week, then you can vote). It's all now very appropriate, very fair. Meanwhile (throughout the week), judge all you want. Rate them! Go ahead! Say what you want. Don't want to get into fights? Just avoid the words "suck" and "stupid;" you'll do fine. If you don't comment on others', they hesitate to comment on yours, so say what you like. Glad to have you aboard. -g
