Capture II

This Cooper's Hawk has killed it's prey in the air and landed in the snow to enjoy it's prize, an unidentifiable bird. It keeps the wind to it's back, the gusts lifting it's flight feathers.

The Cooper's Hawk male is about 15.5" with a wing span of 18". The females are much larger and have red eyes as opposed to yellow with the imature Cooper's. This particular bird is most probably a Female, about 20" with a wing span of 28".

Thanks for the info. She does resemble our Sparrowhawk with the stripey chest and underwing. Seems a similar size. They also take down birds in flight. Viv
