Great shot Rob....the light makes this image special, I think.....very well done...SmileAlan

Did you use spot metering with this?

Just read your profile and see that we use the same lens, and dream about the same lens. The 400 f2.8 has one big drawback for wildlife though, being a prime lens the image is already framed, and to change it you have to physically move. But it would be nice with the x2 extender.... 800mm f5.6 with AF and IS.....wouldn't say noSmile

Thanks Alan, the low light levels did not help, I am pleased with it as it was a hand held grab shot, the IS helped. Centre weighted average metering was used.
400mm 2.8, lol. Its still a far off dream for me, but I will have one, one day. I use the Canon 400d and taking into account the crop factor, a 400mm EF lens becomes a 646mm lens and with a 2X extender it should AF at 1292mm. Need a wimberley head for that one I think.

Rob; This is perfect cconsidering the lighting looks as though its near evening...
Infact the lighting adds so much to their coloring... and the tones of nature come through more... at least thats my opinion.. Smile

Beautiful shot, very rich in tones and color. I like the interaction of their eyes. Maggi
