What a great image.The DOF really makes the head stand out as if its about to bite you.

Great shot Rob.....nice light and focus where it matters... I learnt something with this shot.....I thought there were no snakes in the UK.....are there any venemous ones?........SmileAlan

Dave, He's all mouth, they hiss and puff up, but are big girls blouses really.

Big D, He gave me a squirt, Oooooer...!!! Never get used to that smell, makes me want to hurl chunks.

Alan, we have three snakes in the UK, the only venomous one is the adder (Vipera Berus), see my gallery, I have plenty in there. The other two are, grass snake (pictured) and the smooth snake.

I have plenty more of this fella, so watch out.

It's not a sin to love wildlife, we need it to survive GET INVOLVED

Thanks Kelly, there are dangerous ones out there, but they only bite us if we do something to hurt or annoy them.
They are absolutely fantastic to watch and the excitement you get from photographing a wild snake makes it even more addictive.

It's not a sin to love wildlife, we need it to survive GET INVOLVED
