Lots of promise here, but it looks muddy somehow - did you resize before you posted? The bright boat contrasts wonderfully with the background (very ominous!), and the red in his coat adds a good zap of colour. Good composition. Perhaps a bit of a play and a repost. To my eye, it could do with more space where he is sailing to and less where he is sailing from. You tend to follow the direction of travel and he is about to sail out of the image...john We're off to see the Lizard~~the wonderful (sic) Lizard of Oz~~
Thanks for the comments - I agree it's not very sharp, I took this on my old camera some years ago but came across this and it reminded me of a good day out and liked the contrast of colours more than anything else! Interesting view on the diection of the boat - hadn't thought of that! ...C
Excellent subject-matter (surrounded by all those reflections), if a tad mundane. Mill-ponds and sailboats (if reflection is not present), imho, need some kind of 'added turbulence' to rescue the subject from a deadening stillness - flood filters and/or liquefy in PS can prove advantageous in adding the drama that a lack of wind can bring. But I do not presume. jOhN
