While kneeling in among long grass trying to capture a noisey wren (they make a noise which belongs to a bird 4 times their size) I came across these larvae. They remind me of Ladybird larvae but are bigger, about a centimetre, and the wrong colour. I am assuming they are larvae for some beetle - does anyone know what they are? Having done some searching I think this is a ladybird - the ladybird larvae I had before were red and black and seemed smaller.
My Latin is nowhere near your French but blueus grubbus comes to mind....we do not see a lot of ladybirds where I live...nice image sharpness Viv...john We're off to see the Lizard~~the wonderful (sic) Lizard of Oz~~
Viv this is a great shot, and yes you are correct its a ladybird larvae. I have them all over my miniture willow. This is such a clear image, the colours are amazing. I have tried to do some shots similar to this but they don't like the camera and keep running away. Keep em coming! It's the Photographer that takes the Photo not the Camera.
