hi all! and thank you for your comments. Lol at Viv I did have the urge to gather up all the papers, lol
This was a victorian mental asylum which has been abandoned and left to decay and will eventually be demolished... such a shame for such a beautiful building like this to be wasted...

good for you Angi (haven't seen you around in ages!.. so nice to see you back) I think you did the HDR very well... I luv them when they have a 'natural' feel to them and not over the top. You did very nicely (I appreciate the story behind the photo too)"The poetry of photography will always be more important than the mechanics of the camera..." - J-H. Lartigue
Are you still allowed to say "mental asylum"?. I like that loopy thing on the floor !!...john We're off to see the Lizard~~the wonderful (sic) Lizard of Oz~~
Hi Oly and John and thank you for your comments. It's nice to be back again
lol at John - I rather liked the loopy thing too
I have to admit I don't like the term 'mental asylum', but probably better than 'lunatic' asylum as it is also listed.
I hope I haven't caused any offence.

There are worse terms that have been used, such as 'moronic.' Really, this was an actual clinical term used by doctors over here in the states.
This picture is filled with such potential of stories. I imagine all those papers there being evidense that real people lived and experienced in this place.
Perfect hdr, since the viewer doesn't really think about that until told it was used.
Hi Chris, I just realised you have changed your name
Thank you for your kind words, this visit was a mix of sadness for what had gone before together with the excitement of what I was seeing from a photographic perspective. From what I could see, the papers did not have any patient names or details, but I didn't feel the urge to investigate and decided to leave well alone.
A very humbling experience indeed.
