Very nice reflection in the wet pavement and I also love the way you have cropped this too.

Submit the photo and find out. The only thing is, photo of the week depends on three things that I can see. One, the strength of the photo. So you've got that one, it's a strong picture. Two, the other 9 photos that happen to be picked. You can never tell what will come up, but it's a sure bet that they'll be strong contenders too. Three, who happens to get around to voting that week. There is no rock solid criteria that everybody follows, it's just what happens to appeal to them at the time. So if 49 of 50 people that vote are religiously fanatic about birds, they may vote for a bird picture instead of this. Doesn't mean your picture wasn't as good, just that the mix went in favor of something else.
So submit, and the best of luck to you. And remember, if things don't work out the way you want, that's an opportunity to practice maturing through being a good sport.
...you know what, the photo was submitted!!!! and yet again...never was picked...
Chris I reckon it's a fix....there was 3 insect photos...I mean come on there bugs!!! why so interesting...and two bird photos!!! Surely photograph of the week, should be about capturing life as it happens...exciting, energetic photo's that capture a sense of originality.....not what I've seen!!!...
Any comments Chris?

I agree that Mark finds interest and artistic merit in many bird and insect shots, so there are quite a few of those chosen. But consider a couple points here. If one of your pictures does get chosen, you really have already won a badge of honor for being on the list. Over the week, how many others didn't get picked? So keep trying to take the best pictures possible as your skills and eye lead you, keep submitting, and keep shoring up the defenses of your heart. And do your part, vote for the pictures you consider best. In this vote, a single person's vote really can count. While you vote, check back to the count on Sundays and see how many pictures never receive a single vote. That happened to me once, and I felt kind of hurt, but then girded up my loins (biblical reference) and went out for the next picture.

BTW, whether it was chosen this week or not, your picture IS good. I have said so, and thus it is true.
