I like it. I had to clean out my pond today, and this reminds me of it.

Thanks Nigel And Bridget. It means a lot to me that you to the time to look. Smile I think I have finally found the golden hour for the light.

I like it as well. Well spotted. A different take on emptiness. I am afraid my brain has been empty of ideas..Lol! Viv

Thanks Viv! I was not going to post but the idea seemed unique and I had nothing to lose. Smile If it wins then I get a smile on my face and prize in my bag. If not, it has at least be given props by my forum friends. Smile

The composition is quite nice, I agree. I guess I'll raise my ugly head and suggest a couple possible improvements for next time. A little blurriness in the background would have given a less complex pallet on which to place the tire sculpture (I know, it's not a real sculpture, but just go with me here). However, the vertical lines of the background at least add counterpoint to the round shapes and the horizontal lines of the trees laying down. The other thing is, there are some extreme light differences, from all white to all black. Perhaps a little fill flash would control that.

Is this place still where you can take another picture? It's such an interesting image, it might be a fun experimentation type place.

Well done and keep 'em coming.

Oh yeah, and thanks for teaching me a new word.

Hey there Chris! No problem at all. And thanks for all the great tips. Definitely gives me something to chew on.
I can still try some different takes on the subject. I found this pile in my landlord's back yard. (they live behind us). It gets great light in the evening. I think the strong difference in the lights and darks were my fault. I used the unsharp mask to add contrast but may have gone a step too far on it. Thanks for taking the time. Smile

Looks like Iowa after the floods...LoL! I see what you see in it, very nice tones and textures! I like the tire in the front, the one with the little squares in the tread, and the way the plant is popping up out of it! Smile Daenna

Thanks Daenna. Yeah I had considered a crop of only that one tire but it took away from the emptiness theme.
