These are Gil's shots taken while we were racing last night and show the fleet BEHIND us..lol!! This is an annual race run down the Strangford Narrows and is the greatest fun. It is started on a spring ebb tide which runs at 8 knots and before the start the whole fleet sails the wrong way as hard as they can against the tide to try and stay on the pre start side of the line until the start gun - if the wind drops they just get carried backwards over the line ...Lol!! As the gun goes every one turns and goes with the tide.

Looks like a great day out Viv, especially since you got to look back and see them all chasing.....it looks cool, but the boats are all fairly upright so the breeze must have been pleasant......Alan
Lol!! Thanks Maggi, Nigel and Alan - it was fun! Yes Alan it was what we call a light airs race but the tide is so strong here that it creates an apparent wind. I did not get to look back - my eyes were glued to the sails. Viv
