Bar Buoy race 2

Bar Buoy race 2

Not posting these for rating - just interest. To add to the fun this year there was the tidal generator for the fleet to try and avoid. Portaferry town is in the background. It was quite an overcast, mizzley night. We had an extremely good tidal tactician aboard last night.

Lol Thanks Amanda! The bar itself was quite tame - the wind direction governs that. Viv

Look out they're gaining!.......can boats this size be normally (not racing) sailed single handed Viv?.....and how many do you need to race, and are there rules governing the crew size?.......SmileAlan

Lol you mob! You can sail any boat singlehanded if you really want to. For this sort of event you can cram on as many crew as you want, but some events limit the number to what is quoted on each handicap certificate. We need 6 minimum in winter and at least 4 for light wind races. There were 6 of us last night. The more crew the slicker become the tacks and sail hoists - seconds count. Viv

So with all those crew hands jibbing and trimming the sails, there will hard alee be anyone available to pour my drinks. How do you expect me to get three sheets to the wind? Wink

That reminds me, I have blackberry wine in the the fridge. Tell gill great shots! Thanks for sharing these with us Viv! Makes me wish I could try this someday as well as, trying to stay afloat learning the sailing speak! Keep a weathered eye on the turbine, and mind the sails matey! Wink Daenna
