I am experimenting. I never know quite the best way to play these shots. Anyhow these are two wooden River Class yachts built in the 1930s and still regularly raced as a class on Strangford Lough. There is quite a big fleet of them raced very competitively.
There is something special about wooden boats, and especially old ones.....they had style, a bit like the old cars.....the haze and light grey water blend together to showcase the boats well...I notice an "at anchor" ball up there......I would love the blue one, is it an old fishing boat?......it would be great for a cruising holiday....top shot Viv.....Alan
I really like this high key look you're developing - it works well with your boat shots. If you have a portrait version, it would be nice to see the masts and rigging soaring upwards against a white space. Keep on playing 'cos I'm enjoying it! Janhttp://janpudney.net/ http://jaypea.redbubble.com/
Lol Nigel - I feel a bit like you tonight. Alan you are quite right about the anchor ball - you know your signals very well! These are lovely old boats - a fast design for their day. Viv
Missed you there Jan! Thank you I am enjoying playing and hopefully getting better. I don't think I have a portrait version my mind is always half divided between boat issues and photography when I do these. Viv
Us Aussies have gotten used to gazing up at the world from downunder Viv...my first impression was to look for the tops of the masts...john We're off to see the Lizard~~the wonderful (sic) Lizard of Oz~~
