Chris, I used a 55-250 lens for this but I applied for and was granted accreditation for the weekend and given a press pass, so I was right on the edge of the track, after taking the shot I had to cover the camera to stop it getting covered in water
While shooting on another part of the course I had to run for cover behind a tree twice due to drivers losing it on a particular corner.

Chris, I allways make sure there is something substantial and solid to hide behind quickly

Hey, Nige, that 55-250 lens, is that the new inexpensive one that Canon just came out with (that the end cap doesn't fit snugly)? I have considered buying it. If this is how it does, I think my money would be well spent.
Many thanks Maggi, Chris and Viv. It's certainly exciting getting so close to the action
Chris, yes this is the less expensive 55-250 IS lens. I have been very pleased with the results. As far as the lens cap goes I have had no problems with it and it is a good fit

No, not the lens cap, the end cap, that covers the part of the lens hooking to the camera. I read a review on line and they griped about the loose fit, then I looked at one in the store, and sure enough, the fit was very sloppy.
Oh well. I suppose none of that really matters, right? What does matter is that the lens seems to do a good job, and it doesn't cost a lot. Thanks for that.
Chris, sorry about that, yes that cap could do with being a tighter fit, just need to be careful when changing lenses. It is a nice lens for the money

Hey, I went and got one of those lenses last night, and guess what, the end cap was snug. I guess all the whining at Canon did some good. Anyway, will be eager to get some pictures from it, but just had light playing around time so far.
Nice one Chris, I'm sure you will be happy with the lens. I look forward to seeing your images It's nice to see that Canon listen to their consumers.
