I agree. It was my first day out with the 75-300mm and I hadn't yet got comfortable with its capabilities. When I got the image back on the PC I was somewhat disappointed with the sharpness. I'm sure I'll get another pop at it

There were about 3 of these patrolling the same section of reeds and I spent about an hour taking shots of them (both in flight and when they settled). It helped that they had a limited set of vantage points that they preferred to settle on. For this shot I was around a metre or so away from the insect. Shot was hand held with an image stabilised lens.
