The Bastille Basin joins the Seine to the Canal St Martin, which runs to NE Paris, and the Parc des Sciences. A network of canals shaves 12 km off the trip by river across this great city,
as the Seine takes 3 or 4 serpentine swoops as it proceeds. The Canal St Martin tunnel emerges at Rue Faubourg du Temple, by bd Jules Ferry.
