Surfer at Huntington Beach, California

Re-edit from a shot I had up about a month ago. This was the lead photo for my Eddie Adams Workshop application...

Super shot. I like the way the surfer is silohouetted but lots of detail is captured and the wave is so dramatic.
The hidden harmony is better than the obvious.

Fantastic shot - perhaps crop the bottom purple water. Would love to know how you took this.

Thanks Cat and Jan! It was shot from a few hundred meters away during sunset. I was standing on the beach with a 400mm f/2.8 and 2X TC mounted on a D3 with a monopod. If memory is serving right: ISO 1250, f/8 and 1/2000s

What a disappointment! I had visions of you bobbing around on a surfboard beating off circling, hungry Great Whites! Smile

Thanks Funbeast! And sorry to disappoint you Jan! It was all borrowed gear and it was one of Nikon's top dogs who handed it to me for the week! My head would have been lopped off with a sharpened monopod if he saw me neck deep in that water!! -- Tim
