Candlelight Vigil

Candlelight vigil held in Hong Kong's Victoria Park in remembrance of those who died in the Tienanmen Square massacre in 1989. An estimated 150,000 people gathered for the vigil.

It must have been a moving experience. I was at University in 1989 and will never forget how this terrible massacre affected Chinese students I knew. The sad thing is that not much has changed in China once you get past the 'spin'.

Thanks for the kind comments. It was a very powerful sight and experience. 150,000 people of all races, nationalities and ages gathered together peacefully, singing songs by candlelight and remembering those who were killed in the massacre. It was interesting to hear what some of the Chinese students who were at Tienanmen Square on June 4, 2009. Some of them now support the Chinese government and others hate it even more. There is no common ground for all of the students.
